The late Quincy Jones was celebrated during the 67th annual Grammy Awards Sunday night with a star-studded tribute honoring his life and legacy.
Will Smith opened the tribute with his thoughts on the legendary producer, calling him a “mentor, friend [and] father figure.”
“All of Q’s children and all of us who just loved him like he was our father know this: Quincy Jones always took care of people, and that’s how he fed the world,” Smith added.
The musical tribute featured Herbie Hancock on piano, with performances by Cynthia Erivo on “Fly Me to the Moon,” Lainey Wilson and Jacob Collier on “Let the Good Times Roll” and Stevie Wonder singing “We Are the World.”
Janelle Monáe closed the tribute by bringing down the house with her take on Michael Jackson’s classic “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough.”
Jones died Nov. 3 at the age of 91. He won 28 Grammys over the course of his career.
